Health education projects, visual, audio and written storytelling recognized among best in industry.

The Communicator Awards, the industry’s leading international program recognizing excellence in the field, has awarded 16 WellMed projects with honors in its 32nd annual competition.

The Award of Excellence, the program’s highest honor, went to three projects: a written story about outreach staff who helped an isolated North Texas patient to get much-needed support; a video about a Florida patient and his miniature horse service animal; and a video promoting the importance of men’s health screenings.

Another 13 projects earned the Award of Distinction, including four for the WellMed Charitable Foundation recognizing its annual report, the “Caregiver SOS: On Air” weekly podcast, the WCF Facebook page and a campaign promoting the streaming travel program Wowzitude, which has taken senior center members on live virtual tours of exotic locales such as Argentina, Hungary and Austria.

Age Healthy now, a compendium of clinician-reviewed health advice articles aimed at older adults, and the weekly podcast “Docs in a Pod” also earned honors.

This is the fifth consecutive year the South region has been recognized by The Communicator Awards, sanctioned and reviewed by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). AIVA includes communications, marketing and advertising professionals from leading brands such as PepsiCo, NASA/JPL, FedEx, Netflix, National Geographic Society and more.
