It’s almost time for cooler weather, pumpkins, your favorite foods — and the flu. Enjoy this fall and winter without getting bogged down by the flu.
Get your flu shot soon and spend this fall and winter feeling well and enjoying your favorite things. Your doctor’s office and local pharmacy should be offering flu shots.
Flu facts
- You need a flu shot every year. The vaccination’s protection weakens over time, and each year’s dose is
- specific to the current strain.
- September and October are the best months to get vaccinated. If it’s later, still get it; you should still be protected until spring.
- Flu shots will NOT give you the flu.
- The flu shot does NOT protect you from COVID-19, and it will not increase your chances of getting COVID. You should be vaccinated for both.
Do your part
In addition to getting your vaccination, there are a few things you can do to decrease your chances of contracting the flu:
- Wash your hands often.
- Wear a face mask when you go out.
- Avoid touching your face. This can transfer the virus.
- Keep your distance from others when you can.
Remember, the flu shot is an important way to protect yourself, your loved ones and community against the flu.
