The Communicator Awards, the industry’s leading international program recognizing excellence in the field, has awarded nine patient education projects produced by WellMed with honors in its 31st annual competition. Another two projects produced by the WellMed Charitable Foundation (WCF) also received recognition.

The Award of Excellence, the program’s highest honor, went to five projects. Two of those were for episodes of the feted “Caregiver SOS: On Air” radio show and podcast. The weekly 30-minute program is produced by the WellMed Charitable Foundation, the non-profit partner of WellMed Medical Management, Inc.

WellMed received six Award of Distinction honors, including two for episodes of the recognized “Docs in a Pod” radio show and podcast. These awards go to projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.

Other winning projects include patient education articles and videos. One patient success story featured a grandmother sent home from the hospital with an undiagnosed broken arm who got relief thanks to the after-hours intervention of her WellMed primary care doctor.

This is the fourth consecutive year WellMed and the WCF have received honors from The Communicator Awards, sanctioned and reviewed by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). The AIVA includes professionals from a host of top-tier marketing, advertising and media outfits including McCann Worldgroup, American Express, Sony, Digitas, Discovery Communications and Netflix.

WellMed is one of the nation’s leading healthcare delivery organizations, serving more than 2 million patients annually. For nearly 35 years, WellMed has focused on providing coordinated, compassionate primary and specialty care for Medicare-eligible older adults. WellMed is part of Optum Health, a leading care solution and care delivery organization.
