For about a year, Dr. Riya Joseph had been begging Juan De Anda to get a colonoscopy, a common health screening for patients his age.

Dr. Joseph, lead physician at WellMed at South Buckner in Dallas, had become increasingly worried about his lab results, so she kept urging him to get the procedure. He finally agreed.

The results confirmed Dr. Joseph’s suspicions: Juan had colon cancer.

When you go up to the counter, they assist you right away. And then it seems like as soon as you sit down, they are already calling you in.”
