“It is human nature to more quickly complain about others rather than take the time to praise them, but I'm here to tell you, I have nothing but praise for Dr. Moussa”

“It is human nature to more quickly complain about others rather than take the time to praise them,” said Roland Bryant, a patient of Dr. Joseph Moussa, whom he sees at the Optum – Parkway in Sarasota, Florida. “But I’m here to tell you, I have nothing but praise for Dr. Moussa. He could teach other physicians how to treat their patients.”

A prostate cancer survivor, Roland said he appreciates Dr. Moussa’s holistic, preventive approach to medicine. “He looks out for the whole person,” said Roland, a smoker for many years. “He’s trying to get me to stop smoking. He gave me some information about a program and told me where I could get some free nicotine patches. I don’t know if I’m ready to quit smoking just yet, but I respect his opinion.”

When Dr. Moussa referred him to a urologist, Dr. Sean Castellucci, Roland appreciated the open line of communication between the two doctors and the smooth coordination of his care. When a routine scan revealed that Roland had a bladder stone, Dr. Castellucci promptly scheduled a procedure for its removal.

Another thing Roland noticed was that Dr. Moussa’s office is very organized. His staff keeps Roland on track with his care and medication. Roland described them as both punctual and professional. They also show genuine concern for his well-being. Comparing Optum to other health providers, he said, “Many other places are more impersonal and short on caring. Those places only care about profits.”

As a retired Marine, Roland was keen to observe the teamwork he sees among the clinic staff, citing how important character and integrity are to him. Roland said, “You see who people really are when they think nobody is watching them. I see a staff that enjoys working with Dr. Moussa and one another.”

About his own health, he said his situation could always be worse. Dr. Moussa described 75-year-old Roland as being “in great shape for his age,” adding, “He even goes to the gym and lifts weights.” Roland counts his blessings and thanks Dr. Moussa for that.
