WellMed breaks ground for new Seguin, Texas clinic

New facility will replace existing WellMed at Seguin

Congratulations to WellMed at Seguin for breaking ground for a new, state-of-the art clinic April 8.

The new 12,000 square-foot facility will provide services that include an in-house laboratory, radiology services, office space for six clinicians with 20 exam rooms, a roomy and comfortable waiting area and extra wide hallways to more easily navigate wheelchairs and scooters.

The facility will replace the existing WellMed at Seguin, which is located about a minute away from the site and will continue caring for patients until the new clinic opens in early 2026.

Attendees at the event included Curtis Aberle, VP San Antonio Clinic Operations; Fernando Valdez, MD, medical director, WellMed Patient Support Center; WellMed at Seguin lead physician Huelen Smith, MD; Maria Ponse Wheelis, MD, medical director San Antonio; Cara Hartquist, DO; Monica Carter, Seguin mayor pro-tem; and District 8 City Councilman Bill Keller, among others.

Seguin city officials are happy and excited about the new clinic and expressed appreciation for WellMed and the care it provides the people of Seguin.

“WellMed has done a wonderful job serving patients in our community,” said Mayor Pro-tem Carter.

The new WellMed at Seguin is scheduled for completion early next year.
