Introducing WellMed’s GrandPad Program

Telemedicine has helped millions of people gain access to their doctor appointments to help manage their health. Unfortunately, many older Americans don’t have the equipment they need or the comfort to use it. WellMed’s GrandPad program solves this problem. It delivers a sanitized tablet right to your door for a one-button connection to your doctor. You don’t even need internet.

Here’s how it works:

When a patient arrives at a WellMed clinic, a sanitized tablet is delivered to them curbside so they can visit with their doctor online. WellMed also is able to send a sanitized tablet to the patient’s home. The tablets are delivered via the WellMed-owned transportation service Comfort Care Transportation. After the tablet has been used, Comfort Care drivers pick it up and it is sanitized again for another online visit.

GrandPad features:

  • 24/7/365 built-in tech support.
  • Video calls that can be recorded for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Video with real-time texting and captioning.
  • Auto-answer for those who are cognitively impaired.
  • Older adult-friendly, touch screen, front-facing speakers and wireless charging.

Initial WellMed patient survey responses show that patients are largely in favor of using the tablet for telemedicine. Among the survey responses:

  • 93% said the tablet was easy to use.
  • 93% said the clinician spent enough time with them.
  • 93% said the online appointment addressed their health care need.
  • 92% said they had a good experience during the online visit.
  • 92% said they would recommend online appointments to others.
  • 87% said they would use the tablet again.
